About BusinessFlare

BusinessFlare is a 30-year economic development practice that does things differently. We work with cities and communities who are tired of consultants delivering the same plans that sit on the same shelves. Our work is built on street-level insight, implementation focus, and one core belief: economic development happens in cities, not because of them.

Our Street Economics approach cuts through academic jargon and irrelevant data to focus on reality and potential. What's actually happening on your streets. What you're missing. What you can do about it Monday morning.

Philosophy

The old way of doing economic development was safe. It was also unremarkable.

Communities hire consultants. Consultants run the same SWOT exercises. Deliver the same strategic plans. Use the same jargon. The plan sits on a shelf. Nothing changes.

We don't do that.

Our approach connects communities to the truth about where they are and what's possible. Not the aspirational bullshit in a branding exercise. The actual truth about who lives there, what's working, what's not, and what it would take to change it.

At the end of the day, having the will to succeed matters more than anything else. We help you find that will through truth, respect, knowledge, and the understanding that good enough isn't good enough anymore.

Investment, talent, and momentum move fast. They find places with promise and potential. The question is whether your city is one of them.
